Odds are in that close environment they knew who it was almost from the beginning. To date, no low-level clerk or secretary has been crucified for the transgression, and they certainly are not going to blow up the Institution if it was one of their own.

Everyone seems to think it is Alito since he has been caught leaking before, but what does it even matter? How does leaking a decision that is going to come out eventually anyway do any harm?

The leaker obviously wanted to leak it so the unhinged pro-abortion freaks would go on a rampage, rioting, pillaging, and burning so as to hopefully threaten one or two of the justices into voting to keep the status quo.
