You can stomp on them and kill them. But they make a "pop" noise and a huge mess. And sometimes they are smashed up pretty bad with insides leaking out but still alive

There used to be this show called I Was Bitten on Syfy or something and it was mostly stories of people being attacked by snakes, dogs, elephants, lions, stuff like that but there was one story where someone had been to Costa Rica and after they were back home, they had a bite on their leg that wouldn't heal and it turned out that there was some big maggot thing living in there. Honestly it was the worst of all the 'bitten' stories. Absolutely disgusting. They filmed it sticking its head out but it went back in before they could grab it
