According to African-American intellectual Cornel West, Obama was "great" all right - great for Wall St, that is. He called Obama, "Wall Street's black mascot".
Ultimately, Obama served the interests of big business and the military industrial complex. He bailed out Wall Street and left Main Street to rot. Obamacare was a disaster. To this day millions remain uninsured. He continued Bush's foreign policy by invading Libya and killing Qaddafi, fomenting a coup in Ukraine and ousting its pro-Russian president, and involving ourselves in Syria's civil war. Russia's invasion of Ukraine is a direct consequence of the US helping to overthrow Viktor Yanukovych in 2014.
Oh, and Obama promised to shut down Gitmo. No need to tell you he didn't make good on that promise. -

Meh.
Gay marriage is great. No reason for it not to have been legal in the 2000s and he was the first person to stand up and say yes. Took balls.
He's also the first President to tackle a government healthcare option. The mandate was stupid, but he quickly dropped it. It wasn't "universal healthcare" liberals wanted, but that was never doing to happen, nor should it. I used it for a healthy chunk of 2020. I had to pay for it out of pocket (a little under $400), but the coverage itself wasn't bad at all.
Aside from that, he did nothing. The "We're sorry for being American" tour was embarrassing. -
