First off the military is NOT better armed. The average civilian firearm is far superior to the m4 rifles manufactured by the cheapest bidder and based on 60 yr old tech.
Second American gun owners outnumber the military 77 to 2.
Fully a 3rd of American gun owners are trained former military vets and even more are experienced woodsmen.
Don't even start about planes and tanks. Look at what poorly armed insurgents did in Iraq.
The Military could not secure Iraq. An area the size of Texas. But you think they could take and secure all 50 states against an opponent with superior arms?
These are facts and statistics & history. You jabs against 'Jeb' are biased rhetoric based on false assumptions.
Besides the military would never attempt to violate the 2nd Amendment. The militaries loyalty is to the Constitution, NOT the government. Most of them would fight such an attempt.

Very true. For a start, the second amendment explicitly does not discourage gun control. Secondly, the idea of the Federal government stepping in to curb the flow of illegal guns is not going to turn America into Nazi Germany.
Like you said, completely different scenarios. The Weimar Republic was a failed state that was suffering the effects of the treaty of Versailles dolling WW1, and later a global economic depression, followed by insurrection. The USA and the world is no where near that kind of world conflict/crisis yet.
