And before you point of the part about the orders of the president notice that mention of the Constitution comes first. This is order of precedence. If an order from the President violates the Constitution you follow the Constitution first.

Very true. For a start, the second amendment explicitly does not discourage gun control. Secondly, the idea of the Federal government stepping in to curb the flow of illegal guns is not going to turn America into Nazi Germany.
Like you said, completely different scenarios. The Weimar Republic was a failed state that was suffering the effects of the treaty of Versailles dolling WW1, and later a global economic depression, followed by insurrection. The USA and the world is no where near that kind of world conflict/crisis yet.
