It's quite possible it's something in your diet. Some foods cause me to have intense dream activity. I've cut them out.

Figs (there's some substance in fig seeds that can affect brain activity), herbal teas like chamomile and hibiscus, B vitamins, cholesterol-rich foods like eggs and dairy cream, excess fats in general, pepperoni, heavily hopped beer. I cut out all of those things almost entirely, and no longer have wild dreams. I mean, I still dream, but do not have intense dreams (or nightmares) like I used to.
