Did they ever get to the bottom of what Meli's deal was with Stewart and the boy.
Everyone in the town assumed it was Stewart's kid but, when he was talking to her about telling them what's what she didn't want him to she just wanted to get enough money to move away.
Did I miss something subtle or was Stewart really the baby daddy?

I didn't get that impression. I thought he was just friendly with her and a bit of a sounding board for her thoughts.

It's revealed during Stewart's monologue while asking for a gun.
She was his late brother's woman and Stewart was ashamed for the fact that he had a halfbreed nephew.
