Are seasons 7 and 8 any good?

Season 7 was a really awesome season but i didn't like the last 7 or 8 episodes. I would have changed those a bit:
I would have had MANDY return and have a "relationship" with Tony and i wouldn't have introduced the whole "Cabal" thing. It felt like too much. Plus, we already knew who was behind the events in season 5 and 6 ;).
I would have liked it more if Tony and Mandy used their men to test the weapon in the subway and then at the end it is revealed that Tony plans to go to CHARLES LOGAN's HOME and release the weapon there, killing him and getting his revenge for Michelle.
"Gregory Itzin" could even have appeared in the last episode.
But he would stay alive ofcourse because he returns in Season 8.
And that brings me to Season 8 because that was just perfect. I couldn't find a negative thing about it. -

Season 7 but I don't like the section where the villains break into the white house, as I thought that was too far fetched, unless I am wrong.
I have to agree. Season 7 had a lot of amazing moments in it, both towards the end (Jack's speech to Renee, Jack in the hospital with the Imam) and from start to finish (mostly the introduction of Renee Walker), but it also had some sloppy moments. For starters, the White House Ambush like you said, and also the introduction and intentions of Tony.Carlos Bernard is absolutely fantastic as Tony however and I would love to see him in the show again!
On first viewing, Season 1 was my favourite due to the classical plot twists, and slower, but realistic advances in the plot.
However, after re-watching all the Seasons again (yes I am a 24 Fanatic and need something to do whilst there is no 24 on TV) my favourites have to be:- Season 4 - Firstly, there is no Kim. Her character is annoying in every season. Except maybe season 7, where even Elisha Cuthbert seems to have matured through age. Secondly, the terrorists (Araz family) are conflicted by morality and actually have an interesting story line as the 'bad guys.' Thirdly, Marwan is an awesome terrorist!! Fourthly, the introduction of the amazing Charles Logan. Fifthly, Tony Almeida!!! This was an amazing come back season for him! His hostage situation with Mandy, Michelle's conflict of helping her love or doing what is good for the greater good, the assumed 'death' of Tony, and the consequent love that triumphs is truly beautiful and emotional. This was by far Tony's best season in my opinion. Finally, the ending is the best of any season and could have been tied up like that. I mean if 24 ever gives Jack a proper ending, it would have to be something similar to that of Season 4. This season is by far the most underrated in my view and in terms of mere continuation, realism, drama, and action it is the best. There is no question in my mind. 10/10.
- Season 3 - by a hair over Season 2. Why? Firstly, Jack finally kills Nina - the most satisfying death in the entire show!! Secondly, in contrast to Michelle's decision for the greater good in Season 4 above, Tony shows his unconditional love for Michelle by giving in to terrorists to help her and consequently cops jail for it, which ultimately breaks his relationship with Michelle and gives rise to the fantastic return in Season 4. Not to mention, Tony being shot in the neck and immediately going back to work - seriously love the guy! Thirdly, this season is the best indication of Tony and Jack's friendship, demonstrated by the undercover sting operation. Fourth, Jack as a heroin junkie undercover and also trying to recover from his addiction all in one Season is amazing to watch. Fourth, the threat being based in Mexico is something nice and different and the Salazars are excellent villains too!! Finally, the ending of this season is also amazing. Definitely another fashion in which 24 could conclude, at least Jack's story arch. Chase Edmunds was also a very good aid to Jack in this season. Did I forget the very powerfully emotional death of Chappele?? 9.5/10.
- Season 2 - A very difficult choice here, again by a hair over the much loved Season 5. Why? This season mainly owed to George Mason and Sherry Palmer. First, George Mason is absolutely fantastic!! His initial fear of dying, leaving CTU, then being infected is extraordinary. Then, his comeback, his purely objective stance, his no b**ls%$t attitude to the threat, and his extremely emotional scenes with his own son, Jack, Tony and also Michelle are up there in some of the most dramatic scenes of TV!! The last second takeover of the plane prior to Jack's speech to Kim always has been in tears. Too much emotion in one scene seriously one of my favourties episodes of 24 ever. Penny Johnson Jerald on the other hand - she is all class!! Her acting is top notch! She is shining in every scene. Her believable, manipulative talks are simply a pleasure to watch. Other than that, the blowing up of CTU, the explosion of a nuclear bomb, the conspiracy within the President's staff, which is one of the first seasons to actually exemplify that there are always more powerful forces at work then the President, even in real life it would be the same, except maybe the President would not have as much strength and confidence as David Palmer to actually fight the bad guys. This is a season with incredible story telling and amazing twists - it took what Season 1 had and improved on it surprisingly. 9.5/10.
- Season 5 - albeit this is most fans' favourite Season it is not mine, for the reasons mentioned above I think Seasons 4, 3 and 2 are better than it. Number 1, although the biggest WOW moment of the entire show, the deaths of 3 major characters all in a flash within the first 15 minutes, Tony's ending felt too rushed and not well thought out. He survived, barely getting up after 12 episodes only to be stabbed to death by Henderson. Wa

Season 8 is, in my opinion, the most boring season of the show.
The front 2/3 of season 8 is pretty rough. Personally, though, I think the last 1/3 is pretty damn fun. Mainly due to the return of a certain someone. -

Personally I like Jack becoming more like Tony.
I think that in Season 7, Jack and Tony should have reversed roles, and have Jack become the villain for that season, and have the show end with him being put in jail and tortured by Renee Walker for interrogation, thereby putting dramatic irony into it.
I think it would have been a better ending than season 8, which is very too be continued.
What do you think? -

Hm yeah, but there's a little difference between Jack's and Tony/Margot's dark side: he never risks innocent lives to carry on his vendetta. Be the revenge on the Drazens or the people who killed
Renee or Audrey
he's always alone, acting by himself, without risking anyone's life.
The only way that Jack would risk an innocent person's life would be to protect Kimberly. At that point, he's a big hypocritical (and that's great!), because at times, he demands characters to make sacrifices to save the world (like killing Paul Raines to save the other bad guy), including leaving loved ones behind, but when it comes to Kim, or Jack saves her alongside the world, or everyone dies. But since he's Jack Bauer, he always ends up saving everyone.
As for the Legacy idea, it would be interesting to turn Jack into a 'villain', but not too much, let's no transform him into
Tony Almeida
