C'mon guys, Tanya wasn't that bad. I certainly don't think she was a groupieif she was, she would have never turned Duck down in the first place. In fact, she may have turned him down because she was seeing (or at least liking) JT at that time.
Now speaking of JT, let's not forget he wasn't very trustworthy himself. In fact, he may have pursued Tanya
because
his brother was interested in her - he always seemed to compete with Duck anyway.
I saw Tanya as someone who fell in love with a man (Duck) she didn't expect she would, until she got to know him. Unfortunately for her, her prior relationship (JT) shot it all to hell. But I wouldn't call her a homewrecker or a bad person because of it, certainly no more than JT was.

Wow. Did we watch the same movie? Tanya was a gold digger from the beginning. When Duck was writing poetry, she admitted that she liked his poems but once she saw him and realized that he was poor and likely from a lower class family, she turned him down flat by saying "I don't think that it would be a good idea for you to come back here". She didn't think that he was good enough for her because she was probably a spoil little princess from an upper class family and likely thought that she could easily find a rich husband someday. Instead of learning a real skill, she was taking etiquette/charm and make-up classes so she could land that rich man and be a perfect housewife. Fast forward a few years and now she's older and probably still living at home because she hasn't found a rich husband to support her and realizes that finding a rich man is going to be harder than she thought when she was young. Then she sees that the group has made it big and now has fame and fortune so she goes to one of their shows and seeks Duck out but only because she knew that he would be the easiest one to get close to, since he already liked her when they were kids. Once she got inside the group, JT, being a sex addict and seeing her as just a groupie, likely hit on her before she and Duck became really serious. Like a true gold digger, she slept with him because she wanted to have a fall back plan in case things didn't work out with Duck, she wouldn't completed land on her ass and she could probably still get JT to throw her a few bones. She just didn't know how much Duck cared for her. If she had known, I don't think that she would have taken the risk and slept with him but she was not in love with either of them and she would have agreed to marry J.T if he had asked her first.

I always thought she was "dating" the brothers at the same time.
tanya's really not at fault. blood is thicker than water. j.t. was wrong all the way around, they were brothers, & he lets duck stay in the dark all that time. j.t. should have came clean to duck- instead of the secret meeting with tanya- & let him know everything that was going on from the start.Popeye has eaten his spinach

I too blame JT ( part of my own bias for being madly in love with Tanya. JT had women everywhere they went, his brother finally finds somebody worth while, and JT has to after her too. F him, i would have never spoken to him again in life. THink about it, Duck ends up the loser in all this, JT moves on and marries and has 2 kids, Duck moves on and has no wife/kids to speak of.

I know this reply is yrs past original ~ but somewhat agree
J.T. was at fault because he, perhaps, was in competition to be "The Man" and to find this woman interested in his brother was an issue. So initially he scored with her to prove a point to himself. Obviously keeping it hush from bro because bros come before hoes.
He perhaps didn't realize how far the relationship w/ his bro and her was going and that shocked him which is why he questioned the engagement.
She of course was in the wrong as well but perhaps in her mind figured her fling w/ JT didn't matter as much as her feelings for Duck. -

That was that bitch fault. She's a the one in the relationship so if she cheats it's her fault.JT didn't rape her.She was a groupie and gold digger and fell in love w/ Duck because he had bread. She was a smut though for beep his brother. There's no way she and JT don't share the blame.JT probably never thought they would get that serious though. She's way wronger though

Lisa, Last F
It's really no ones fault but timing and lack of bravery (to me).
She was young and probably "WILD" and JT was Wild, they had "Relations",..time passes and (Perhaps) she matures but you have to admit JT hasn't. I do know MANY women mature from that 18-College Days Stuff and Men don't.
But She later runs into a guy that liked her years before, they end up together.
Buuuttt the movie doesn't cover it but she and JT knew they had a relationship prior to Duck,..who should've told him then.
No one had too tell later (when they became serious/engaged) IF JT WOULD "LET Go" but he refused to do so,..why? From their last exchange, I didn't catch they were still "Kickin It"? Only JT didn't want her to Marry his brother and he seemed quite selfish and arrogant in his reasoning, for if he were sincere; he'd told Duck long before that meeting.
Upon the FIRST time she and Duck were to be intimate; she was supposed to tell him then but she didn't.
When JT knew she and his brother were a "Couple"; he was supposed to tell Duck but he didn't.
As my "Momma Used to Say", unlike wine, Bad News doesn't get better with time.
