I think he was at his best in What's Eating Gilbert Grape.
Yeah it was good. However, it was a one dimensional performance. This film Leo shows range of a character that evolves and then devolved over a period of time. His methods and sporting seems intuiative and was intelligent.
A role like this couldn't be played by many young actors in Hollywood. Leo was a child prodigy in the profession. A lot of talk about Jodi Foster, but i think Leo ranks higher than Jodi.
