I still maintain that Beast Wars is the best written of all the Transformer shows I've seen (the Western ones at least–and Headmasters). The character dynamics are explored quite brilliantly. The setting leaves room for mysteries and secrets. And the overall ties to the larger Transformers lore just take it up another notch.
Additionally, I feel not only is the show the best, season 1 is the best overall season of any Transformers show as well. The average episode is fun with the ones that tie into the larger mysteries of the season being standouts. I love how the orbiting stasis pods gave the writers a great way to introduce new characters. The voice acting prioritized distinct characters. And the mid-90s cgi is just a blast.
Finally, I consider Dinobot to be the best written Transformers character ever. He's a Predacon, but he has honor. His teammates don't trust him, but he works to earn that trust. Then when his internal conflicts rise up, it leads to real consequences. And Code of Hero is probably the best Transformers episode ever as well.
So much to love about this show.
So many stories, so little time.
