she was not that much overweight, and Leonard dated the hot Priya, could have dated the hot comic book girl, and had the hot Alex come on to him, but he was willing to be in a relationship with the average looking Leslie Winkle.
So even though Leonard could hook up with gorgeous women, which made his insecurities that much more out of place, since he was insecure, his standard were not high. Not that one needed low standards to hook up with an attractive doctor.

Penny is more interesting when she's with Sheldon. Leonard and Penny are too 'normal' and it's just not clear what they have in common. Sheldon and Amy are actually much more compatible.

This has to be one of the dumber questions I've seen on TBBT board. Why WOULDN'T he date her? Because of the weight? You make it sound as if Leonard is some George Clooney type.
