Not that I hated his performance but I didn't think it was oscar worthy.

@UltronDoom86 A lot of yelling, but not much acting. Dustin Hoffman was much better, though the whole movie is too hammy for anyone to be nominated - they're literally playing cartoon characters.
The only exception would be Glenne Headly as Tess - she seemed to play a real character. I like

I think it might be because Jack Nicholson was robbed of a nomination and nobody in Hollywood expected the kind of success that Batman had.
That was always my theory.
And as typical…it's good for ratings! -

It was a great performance. Who did Pacino lose the GG to that year?
Denzel for Glory. Id say Denzel had the stronger performamce as best supporting actor cuz Denzel's single teardrop out of one eye in the scene where his back was being whipped. A single tear from one eye is master acting especially such a tough guy standing defiantly but it does make him cry but not from pain- from feeling betrayed…amd humbled. Its complexity of contradicting emotions done superbly
