It's been said that Sean Connery was considered for the Michael Caine role, Dr. Robert Elliott, was interested but had to turn it down due to other commitments. I think anyone who's seen the film would probably agree it was better with Caine in the Elliott role, since Connery's rough & tumble features wouldn't lend themselves as well to the film's big twist.

Yes, the thought of Connery in that role seems absolutely absurd. Even if he shaved the facial hair we sported at the time, he would still look too rugged to pull it off compared to Caine with his fair features and blond curly hair.

haven't seen many transgenders, eh? and besides, i think that (not sure) connery has a smaller body size than caine.
Would have liked to have seen connery in this.

Connery must be/have been at least 50 lbs heavier than Cain. Just look at them in their prime, both men were about 6'2" but Caine was relatively slender while Connery had the stocky, broad shouldered build of a hard working, brick laying day laborer. Little harder to convincingly pass off as a woman. -

Ha ha, when I read that Sean Connery was considered for the role of the psychiatrist in DTK, the first thing I thought of was Connery wearing that wedding dress in
