For crying out loud.why are some of you so hateful to others? jquick, what was accomplished by your post, other than possibly hurting someone's feelings? What was the purpose of your post? That's what I'D like to know re: this movie. It serves no purpose except to sadly demonstrate how people who are miserable in their lives will often try and make others feel as bad as they do. I feel sorry for you.

I agree.. but to answer the question ellie killed the mom then the little sister killed ellie because during the rain scene ellie climbed underneath the house and hid the mask in her suitcase remember? i think this was the directors way to show it was her.

Thanks so much for the nice (and helpful) reply, niccaliciious. I HAD indeed missed that part of the movie somehow. I really appreciate your clearing it up for me (and in such a decent way).

It's been more than two years since this discussion was "finalized," but I'm still not convinced
the older sister killed the mother. Could she have been hiding the mask to cover up for the younger sister?
Just a thought.
And like most boards, it seems like this one has its share of evil siblings of all ages. Present company excluded, of course.

I think the older sister killed the mom because the younger one was obviously upset when the mother died. She also looked shocked and horrified when she found the mask in her sister's suitcase. This leads me to believe she was upset with her sister for killing the mom and breaking up her dad and Lena. Therefore, the little girl was so mad she used the mask when killing her sister.

That Ellie killed her mother couldn't have been more obvious. It's difficult to be patient with someone so dense they couldn't figure it out.

Just watched this movie for the first time, and I'm not sure who did what. Someone posted on a thread that said the arms of the mother's killer had hair on them and were clearly a man's arms. No idea about that one.
But there are multiple possibilities:- The oldest daughter killed the mom & the youngest daughter killed her sister
- The youngest daughter did both
- The creepy neighbor guy did both
- The husband did both
- The husband did the mother and the youngest did the oldest daughter.
I personally think the youngest daughter did both murders.
The ball/rock though the door was the same in both murders. Why do that if it wasn't somehow connected? As for why Ellie had hidden the mask if she was innocent, perhaps she thought her younger sister did it and wanted to protect her. Maybe that would even be why she visited it often & cried. The youngest daughter may have been shocked when she found the weapon in her sister's suitcase because she knew that she had been caught. That's why she killed Ellie. And thats also why she didn't tell anyone that she had found it. Also explains the ending scene when she's pretending to cry with her dad.
Anyway, just my opinion on what happened
