Although not a Madonna fan I saw this when it first came out in the theater. There's a scene about half way through that

What other comment is to be expected from sb with the nickname rocco-1?
Did anybody asked her to cry? And what's the situation got to do with homophobia or the fact that you are gay (that you felt like mentioning it)?
No. This is just about her being a pretty fake/superficial person, who did the movie (hence the quote: the crew is like my family) more for her image and/or (like many others) for money. That scene/situation proves several disturbing things:- she was not that affected by what happened to her assistant
- either she thought "she deserved it" OR from her pov rapes are not such a bad thing
- she either lied when she said "the crew is like my family" OR she wouldn't have cared more even if it would have been her real sister the one getting raped
- the advice she gave the assistant is a joke
- not taking (or at least sending) her to the doctor/police, shows that she doesn't care about the rapers being found/punished
- it's well known that most people obsessed with (all kinds of) sex, like her, also have rape fantasies. Some wouldn't even mind ending up one day in a "mild" rape (no severe injuries). Her attitude proves her one of these.
- the fact that the girl seemed ok the next day, proves maybe that her sex-oriented concerts/attitudes/mentality/etc keeps the whole crue in such an atmosphere, that everything related to sex - including a rape apparently - is not such a bad thing. A rape day is just another type of bad day for her maybe. Like you had some kind of indigestion/food poisoning: it makes you feel bad, maybe horrible for the moment, you have to take care about the cause in the feature, but that's it. Next day you can go on with your life like nothing happened. Correct me if this doesn't seem to be the attitude of both of them in the movie (more or less)
- and last but not least: the fact that she let this "slip" into the movie (don't tell me she didn't realize how the public will react, or at least sb around her must have told her), it shows that she wants to kinda induce this kind of mentality (see previous point) also to the fans/general public.
Probably for her a world in which a raped person would be able to get over it the next day would be a perfect world. Also because a "bad" day for sb in this case, would make it worth for the raper, left with a "nice" memory, "unspoiled" by further prosecution & punishment.

Oh wowyou're an idiot. Anyone who would defend that type of reaction after someone was supposedly rape has to be an idiot.
FYI, I'm pretty sure the entire thing was staged. I would sincerely hope that Madonna would not be that callous to someone's assault.

Madonna explained in the beginning that she'd already started grieving the end of the tour long before it happened in order to make her peace and be able to move on, and that she'd done that with close friends who were dying before. It's a coping mechanism, and doesn't mean that she wasn't sad for it to be over - she'd just shed all of her tears already. She also added, before the film flashed back to Japan in April, that the sadness of it all would all hit her in a later date, and that she just hoped that she'd be in a safe place when it happened.

I'm sure Madonna cared, but think about it. No matter what she says about them, all the people she worked with were aquaintances, whom she knew when the tour was over would go their separate ways and probably never see each other again. Also, as horrible as a rape may be, work still has to be done and Madonna was doing a world tour at the time. And as was said earlier, maybe she was consoling at some point but it was just plain not included.
As far as her "asking for it," I agree that no one asks for it, but at the same time you have to be responsible and show some judgement. That was probably the reason for Madonna's reaction. The makeup artist didn't behave responsibly (I probably spelled that wrong).
Anyways, those are my two cents. -

First of all, I think everyone is reading far too much into this scene. We don't know that she was "gang raped" she simply said that she was dancing at a club, there were boys there, she woke up and her "butt was bleeding". She "thinks" someone spiked her cranberry juice. Well, she thinks it. She didn't say she was raped, gang raped, etc. It very well could have been she went out, had too much to drink, went home with someone, had anal sex for the first time, passed out, and so on. I took everyone's reaction in the film as a validation that Mama Make-up was a drama queen that was blowing something out of proportion for a little attention.

My problem with this whole scene is this:
One - Girl got taken advantage of (she doesn't remember anything, she wakes up in her hotel room, he stuff is gone and she is bleeding from the rectum - people - she was raped)
Two - Madonna was not the only one lacking in sympathy. The backup singers were just as callous. (The only one who DID seem to care was the Dancer - Carlton I think is his name).
Three - The only reason someone messed with her was because she was with the Madonna Tour?!!?? Madonna - women and men are victimized all the time - just because she mentioned she was with YOU you think that is why they messed with her? Get a clue.
Madonna's reaction did not shock me - typical of a rich spoiled little girl who was given a LOT as a child (for those who think she grew up in poverty - this is where Madonna grew up http://www.rochesterhills.org/. And as for the living in poverty in New York story as a struggling dancer??? Pauhleeeaase! You don't hang out with Basquiat and other artist types in New York and starve - she was with Alvin Ailey and Perl Lang - far from the doldrums and ghettos of NY). She claims to have street smarts but when the streets you grow up on are almost as posh as Beverly Hills - you don't have compassion.

Wow Jane, what a lot of anger. You seem to be seeing everything completely one sided.
- It could be possible that Mama Makeup made up the whole story to garner attention. She was laughing and joking right after the alleged rape.
- We do not know with absolute certainty that Madonna was unsympathetic. Editing, or the fact that she like me felt it was made up would warrant the lack of sympathy.
- Mama Makeup drew attention to herself by stating she was on Madonna's tour. Anyone listening, who may have not paid Mama a second look would have their interest piqued by the Madonna name being bandied about.
For someone who is not a fan you seem to know a dangerous amount about Madonna. I say dangerous because is it not at all possible that the area with in Rochester that Madonna lived prior to 12 (as the article states) was poor. I live in an incredibly wealthy part of London but believe me when I say there are a) council estates in the same area and b) my house ain't all that! It does also state with in the article that Madonna moved there when she was 12 and that her step mother was there also. Could it not be possible that her father and step ma pooled there respective house profits and bought that one house.
As to the amount the house sold for, the price was inflated because it was Madonnas childhodd home, the article does say that. It was only worth about $270,00 which is about 170,00. It is only a four bedroom and in 2001 the rate of exchange etc as it was that house only went for approx 200,000 which is what my two bed cr@p hole is worth!
Also, why should her dad move? He is happy there, he has lived there all his life and has friends and a job. Why should he leave the area because his daughter is wealthy?
Think before you write. You have managed to make yourself look a bit silly and, in truth, a tad jealous as well.

From everything I have heard and read, nothing indicates Madonna grew up in poverty. Her father always had a good job, he married the housekeeper for god sakes! Rochester Hills is an affluence area - many auto execs had homes there.
As for her life in New York, the girl struggled. Many of the "famous" people she knew, like Basquiat, were just starting out like her. How much do you think struggling dancers make? She has talked about living on Cheethos. In the very beginning she dressed like a thrift store, because that's where her clothes came from. Not D&G. I'm sure she never told her family about all her struggles, because they would probably say "forget New York and come home." The last thing she wanted to do. Better to suffer on your own and live your dream. I know what I'm talking about, my daughter moved to New York at 17 to be in a band - "living her dream". I know she struggles, but won't tell me everything and won't leave either. As a parent, you don't want your child to suffer, but you have to let them live and learn about life.
Which takes us to the topic at handthe story told by the makeup artist aka the rape of MaMa. I think she was intoxicated and taken advantage ofand was simply reporting what happened, but also feeling partially responsible for her actions, that is why everyone seemed to be laughing at her. It was "you are not going to believe what happened to me last night" kind of things. I also agree that we don't know what happened when the cameras left, or how this was edited. So to say that Madonna was indifferent or didn't care, I don't think that would be true. She has admitted to being raped herself in NY. -

Madonna wasn't "poor" as a child, she is from a working class family. The house has four bedrooms but she has has 6 brothers and sisters!
As the oldest gils in the house, Madonna grew up really fast without a mother to watch over her. She was a fighter and had a really lonely time when she first came to New York.
Madonna grew up being rather selfish and ego-driven, that is true and some parts of the movie really show that side of her personality. But remember that a person is never just 'one thing'.
She admits she used to be extremely ego-driven and she hurt a lot of people because of it. She has changed a lot since then and allows us to witness that change. She isn't scared of being herself and falling flat-down on her face. I think that makes her a great person. -

I watched the documentary for the first time since it originally came out. I was VERY disturbed by Madonna laughing at what Carlton told her as well as ignoring and brushing off the comments from the victim. Madonna's backup singers always seemed like they kissed up to her.
And the nasty, insensitive comments about the victim being a fat girl who asked to be raped or just was desperate for attention are truly sickening. Some people are a little too high on Madonna. Anyone who laughs at a rape isn't a great person.The universe may be paying her back, Madonna looks old and tired now.Perhaps she should retire.
