i have never heard that Linda Lavin and Polly Holliday had a feud does anybody know anything about this?

They dated for a long time and even considered adopting a orphaned twins, but their breakup was amicable. It was only when Polly was given a spinoff that Linda became enraged with jealousy and accused Polly of using her. It's been said punches were thrown back stage during a Jerry Lewis telethon. Ultimately they went their separate ways and still avoid each other.

Episodes have been uploaded to youtube. On the ones where Alice and Flo are fighting, you can't help but wonder if animosity towards each other in real life affected their acting.

Nice try. I was in Linda's circle of NYC for a few years and she is straight.
The Feud goes back to the fact that Flo's character was the break out on the show and Linda like many actors who were supposed to be the lead got jealous and had several scripts rewritten to give funny lines to her and not Polly and of course that annoyed Polly
