Amy, am i the only one that found her so unlikeable?

I mean from the beginning she was just trying to change him and force him to be this man that she wanted. It was weird she convinces him to do an operation, then all of the sudden its revealed that she still has feelings for her ex, and strong feelings from what i saw.
Then the next scene she is certain she loves virgil, and never tells him she kissed someone else, again, even though she knew the first time upset him. i just always felt like she treated him like a child, rather than a partner. -

She got on my nerves too, especially how she wanted to change him so quickly after meeting him. She is interested in him because he's different from most guys, but the first thing she wants to do after sleeping with him is change him.
Plus she just said really stupid or insensitive things. -

i know, she even put down his job, and how he lived. which wasnt even a bad job at all, he was making enough money to live in a pretty house, and lived in a community that he walk around in with his blindness.

Absolutely. In fact when he is learning to see and understand again.he has that moment with the doggie and says "Dog" like he's just learned what it isand she's on the phone and gives him a "yeah, DUH!" kind of nod. That part forever erks me among many other things.

I agree. I didn't find her very likeable either and the kiss she gave her ex at his surprise party was much more than something just friendly. I felt sorry for Virgil when he saw her kiss the ex and she offered a BS explanation when he questioned her, lying about what type of kiss it was. There was no way that was a simple birthday kiss between her and her ex unless she still had feelings for him and Virgil knew it. She became defensive and lied to him.
On top of all that, she changes her mind and flies off to a meeting in Atlanta with the ex. When she tells Virgil about the trip, he says he thought she wasn't going. She offers no explanation for changing her mind. She just says that she will be gone a day or two. If you really care about someone, wouldn't you at least offer an explanation?
In Atlanta she kinda looks at the ex with googly eyes after the meeting when he invites her to have a drink with him. She not only has a drink but also dances romantically with him. When the ex says it's nice dancing together, she says yeah and they reminisce about when they were together and kiss while dancing. Only then does she say that she can't do this and that it's wrong. If it was wrong, then why did she do it in the first place?
Her behavior was totally inappropriate considering the feelings she supposedly had for Virgil. When she gets back, she tells Virgil she was getting confused and it didn't excuse how she acted. She goes on to say that she saw him slipping further away from her. What a lame excuse! He just wasn't acting as she wanted him to act. He says he doesn't want her to give up on him and she says she won't because while in Atlanta she realized how much she needed him. I wish Virgil had then asked her what in Atlanta caused her to realize that. I bet she would have lied.
It was definitely tell tail when he starts to go blind again and, when telling her that he's leaving, he asks her if she ever thought what it would be like to just be with him, the blind man, and she says nothing. It was definitely obvious at that point that she was only interested in him being the man she wanted him to be.
She revealed that flaw in her character during lunch with Virgil in the restaurant when he questioned her about not finishing her sculpture. She basically said that she gave up on it when she couldn't get it to be the way she wanted it. She said that It was something she cared about a lot but felt she couldn't get it right so she gave up. That's also what she did with Virgil when he didn't turn out the way she wanted after the operation. You could see in her face, voice and mannerism the frustration impatience and sometimes contempt she had towards him when Virgil didn't respond to his new found sight as she had hoped; not being the person she wanted him to be.
If she was so in love with him as she let on to be before he had the operation, then why when he lost his sight again didn't she follow him back to his home? She only went to see him when she learned he was back in the city. -

Thanks for the comment. It's nice to see that others picked-up on what we did. After reading so many posts for other movies I've watched, sometimes I have to wonder if they actually paid attention to what was going on or were just looking at the screen and seeing what they wanted to see.
