I actually think that Gore Verbinski's The Ring was better than the Japanese original.

I love Douglas Sirk's Imitation of Life, but I didn't know it was a remake. Now I need to see the original.
I was also always interested in original Gaslight with Anton Walbrook. Have you seen it, Miss Margo ?

I didn't think the original IOL was too bad, but I thought the remake was so much better.
You'll have to check out the original.
Oh! I did see the original Gaslight! That seems so strange, having seen the remake with Ingrid Bergman.
I thought it was alright, but I have to say that I didn't think that it was as suspenseful as the remake.
For me, the remake almost seems like a Hitchcock film.
What do you think?

Most remakes from the 80's lioe The Blob, The Thing, and The Fly were superior to their 50's counterparts.
I prefer the recent adaptation to IT over the 1990 one. I like all iterations, with the book being the best. The recent movies just capture the feel of the book better. They change some things, but they also include aoem things not in the 1990 one. It's better acted and better written. Not held back by TV restraints.
