Did that really happen and why did Stone include it in the movie. Kinda gives Americans a bad name. The British army has never done this.

It definitely happened. I'm pretty sure there are a lot of articles or books that detail such acts. I mean, Platoon was inspired by Stone's own experiences during Vietnam. Casualties of War was also based on an article that later became a book detailing American soldiers raping and murdering a Vietnamese woman.
Wouldn't really know too much about British soldiers doing **** like that, but I'm certain it had to have happened.

According to this article, many women in Kenya say they were raped by British soldiers who then abandoned the children.
Most, if not all, armies have been guilty of bad behavior.
