It definitely happened. I'm pretty sure there are a lot of articles or books that detail such acts. I mean, Platoon was inspired by Stone's own experiences during Vietnam. Casualties of War was also based on an article that later became a book detailing American soldiers raping and murdering a Vietnamese woman.
Wouldn't really know too much about British soldiers doing **** like that, but I'm certain it had to have happened.
