I did. I was seven in the summer of '89. What's funny is that I saw Batman around the same time, which doesn't seem like that long ago, yet it feels like
      ages
since I saw Ghostbusters II in the theater. I had the cards and the figures. I loved the new stuff like the pink slime "proton packs" (they weren't proton packs, but I called them that anyway).
Nostalgic blindness rarely factors into my enjoyment of stuff I used to enjoy anymore. For instance, a lot of the cartoons I liked in the 80s are barely watchable for me now. Howard the Duck, which I used to adore, is an awful movie. Garbage Pail Kids isn't much better. But when it comes to Ghostbusters II, I'm genuinely surprised at the negative reaction it still gets from some people. I think it definitely holds up. Not quite the classic the first one is, but still a great movie. I think I'll watch it later. It's been a while.

Haha. I was 5. One of the first movies I ever remember seeing. I had the works, proton packs, action figures, cards, you name it haha.

I have a similar experience as RevengeOfToonces3. 1989 was a great year for movies. I remember my mother took my sister and I to watch so many good blockbusters including this one along with Batman, Indy & Temple of Doom and Back to the Future Part II.
I was 13 at the time and it was a good summer. I missed out on Star Trek V as I had still not watched every episode of Classic Trek nor had I seen the movies at that point. I was only a fan the TNG and still discovering more things that I grew to like.
@Toxicnapalm: I envy you; I always wanted a proton pack.

I was 4 going on 5 when I saw it in theatres. I remember me and my brother made little flags out of Capri sun straws and newspaper clippings, we were so ready!

1989, the summer of sequels and BATMAN. Great time to be a movie fan back then, even better to be a kid who loved movies.

It really was an awesome time when summer movies DELIVERED and were worth getting excited about. As opposed to today where you generally get one or two good ones out of the pack. I dont think it has anything to do with being a kid at the time either. 'Ghostbusters II' is better than most action/comedies of today.

I was born in 84 so I guess I was 5. I was already a huge fan of the first movie and the cartoon show. I had the magazines, and cards, and lunchbox, and firehouse, and a grandma with lots of money to spend. My parents took me to the movie. Other than The Fox and the Hound, this has to be the first movie I remember seeing in theatres. I also saw Batman at a drive in, but I fell asleep part way through.
I'm not hostile against poor people. I'm hostile against bums and winos.

I wanted to see it. I remember the commercials and stuff but I only ended up seeing Batman. I was only 7 at the time. For those who did see it in the theaters, were there really extra scenes not shown in the home releases?

Saw it with my dad and sis when I was 6. There were only 5 other folks in the theater, this was on a Sunday afternoon. I remember leaving to go to the restroom and figured I'd be a bit nosey and stick my head in the auditorium showing Batman, it was packed!
All in all, I enjoyed it because I was and still to this day, am a GB fan. Although, I will say that I had the slightest feeling people passed on seeing ghostbusters 2 for Batman (highest grossing flick of the summer). I went back and saw it a week later and it was down to 2 showings which felt a bit depressing to me at the time, but now I understand lol!

I saw this at 9 years old, at a drive-in movie theater (which no longer exists). I sat in the backseat, my parents were in the front, and I had a huge bag of popcorn. sigh Lovely memories.
