My brother and I went with two family friends to see it at a second run theater while the mom's wanted to hang out on their own. I was 9 at the time, but my brother was 12, and I think one of the family friends was 13. We went to see a twilight showing, and because we lived in a safe area, and the theater was only a mile away from the house, we walked home, part of the way through this creepy old park. Not the best idea, since the movie already spooked me a bit (can't remember why, but I was always a scaredy cat). Since it was with my brother and the family friends were also boys, they teased me so much for that. Thankfully, none of them remember anymore, and I'm not about to remind them.

I was 10, saw it with my aunt and then we went out for Ghostbusters "Slime" Sundaes at Hardee's.

I saw it when I was 9. I was a big fan of the first one and was really looking forward to it. I remember the morning of the day I was going to see it I was sitting out in my treehouse with a friend who had seen it the night before and he was telling me that it wasn't very good. So I was prepared for it to be bad, but I loved it.

I saw it at the drive-in 2 times. First time on opening day. I got sick so we got home before the movie started. We went back and this time i watched it. I can't remember what the second movie was. A Pink Panther movie maybe.
I remember that they showed a short cartoon before Ghostbusters in french it was called "L'le noir" translated word for word would be "The black island"
I too had the soundtrack on LP. I still own the Lp. I since bought it on cd off ebay. Is it available on itunes now. Had some of the trading cards too. I played a lot with the real ghostbusters action figures. I now own the original 35mm teaser and 35mm trailer that were showed in theater to advertise this movie

Yeppers, I went to go see this on opening day, June 6th, 1989. I remember I was so excited that I could barely sleep the night before. I couldn't wait for Christmas when my parents had bought just about every single thing related to this film.
I can honestly say, 1989 was one heck of a year to be a kid. Not only did they have a sequel to
              Ghost Busters (1984)
, but that year you had:
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)
              Lethal Weapon 2 (1989)
Back to the Future Part II (1989)
The Karate Kid, Part III (1989)
              (Stupid film, but entertaining nonetheless)
Also, a slew of other films that weren't sequels such as:
              Batman (1989)
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989)
              When Harry Met Sally (1989)
              Say Anything (1989)
              Christmas Vacation (1989)
              Uncle Buck (1989)
              Field of Dreams (1989)
              Weekend at Bernie's (1989)
              Road House (1989)
Those are just a few of the movies that I went to go see that year. I feel bad for anybody who was either too young or not born yet. That was one wild ride.

I saw this in the theater when I was 16, I was such a big fan of the first movie, i had to see this movie too, and it was good for a sequel, I don't know why a lot of people didn't like it, it had a lot of cool scenes in it.

I saw it when I was 3 years old. I remember favoring it, I loved it. The main villain scared me. 🙂

Yep, I saw it in a theatre in Denver in summer 89 when I was very young. I remember being scared when Janosz's eyes start to glow, but I still really liked it. I remember going to Toys R Us later that day and getting some Kenner Real Ghostbusters toys - the ecto popper and goggles set. We also had spaghetti O's in the shape of the Ghostbusters and other assorted merchandise like storybooks. Ghostbusters was really huge round about that time. it just seemed to be everywhere.
'Cause if it leaks to the VC he could end up MIA, and then we'd all be put on KP.

I saw this in the UK in December 1989 (as it opened months later here than in the USA) for my friend's 10th birthday, I was 9 myself.
I can remember absolutely loving it, and I got the novelisation for Christmas that year. I also remember Shreddies cereals having different scenes from the movie on the back of their cereal packets, and stickers of the ghostbusters/ghosts etc inside the packet so you could make your own scenes etc.!
My final other random memory is going for a birthday McDonald's after the movie (McDonald's was really a treat for kids back then!) and we all got strawberry milkshakes and pretended they were slime drinks haha!
Very fond memories of this movie 🙂

I saw it twice. In those days it was a long time before things were available to rent on video and as a huge fan of the original I was thrilled when this came out. I saw it once on the big screen and once in the small. I was 12 and I can still remember the laughter from the cinema when I watch it now. I distinctly recall the Winston ghost train scene and his punch line getting a big laugh.
