Hmm, not exactly sure how posting a link makes me a smart aleck. And I just found the vids. I didn't actually upload them. Another poster was asking about the typewriter one but didn't remember the name so I found it for him.

As I recall, I heard that it was actually an homage to Harry Anderson's appearances on Cheers.
Apparently, the closing logo and laugh were like this. The crack was the crack of a bat hitting a baseball. The flash WAS the baseball being launched into the night sky (over Chicago). The laughter was actually "Coach" from Cheers (Nicholas Colasanto) laughing at another homerun given up by Sam, "Mayday Malone" while he was pitching in Chicago for the Red Sox.
Listen again to the laughter. It sounds exactly like coach's laugh. And listen again to the "crack" sound. It's definitely a bat crushing a fat fastball. -

It didn't scare me
but it made me feel down, because it meant the show was over,
Talk about a freaky conditioned response, it even has that power over me when the DVD's are playing one after another, lol. -

Scared the crap out of me. I watched this show in syndication and it would come on and right after was my bedtime. So I would hear that clap and the laughing and for a moment be terrified. It is still one of my favorite sitcoms of all time though with Roseanne and The Golden Girls.
Ever hear of a ritual killing? (Uncle Buck)
