Yeah it was called The Carrie Diaries. I tried to get into it, but I just couldn'tI couldn't get past Anna Sophia Robb as Carrie for some reason, she just didn't fit the part imo. I think one spin off was more than enoughif that got cancelled (which it did) I'm sure a Samantha one would, too.

With the critical success of Nurse Jackie and Dr House, i think a show for Samantha could work.
They could focus the show on her abilities on her job and exploit more her honesty and how practical she is in her advices and how she is often right.
They could turn her spinoff into a sort of female House. Samantha is my favorite character of the ladies in Sex and tge city so show about her has potential. -

No, no, no, a thousand times no!
Samantha was one of the most important characters of the 20th century. Look, I'm not even that big of a fan of the series, I'm by far not the target market, yet Samantha Jones is, IMO, a defining moment in TV history.
The whole group depends on her. She's the strongest one, the one who does not compromise, does not break, does not cry (well, very few times she does). If James Dean defined a form of masculinity for three decades, Sam has done the same for a form of femininity. She's one of the strongest characters I've seen on TV, many times I've clapped when she killed someone with a one-liner.
I want to remember her like that. Not as someone toned down, compromising, settling, or even worse, slipping into irrelevance.

Precisely for How good of Character Samantha was she deserves her own show. She could be the female House in a different environment.
House is favorite male character on tv and Samantha female for how they just dont care what people say about them and speak with the truth i love both of their sense of humor.
And because of how different Samantha is from any other female character she does deserve her oen show, for me she was always my favorite of the ladies. -

I don't know what kind of story lines they could have planned that we haven't already seen in the series. Some of her story lines were interesting, how she dealt with breast cancer, her relationships with Richard and Smith etc. I just don't know what it could add with her as the main focus and not the other girls.
I guess it would expand on her work. But if it would just be her dating a different guy every episode, which is a big part of her lifestyle, it would get old quick. It worked on the show because it was switched with the storylines of the other girls, but I don't know.
I'm interested in it, I just hope they do her justice. -

I don't think Sam should get a spin off, it's too late after the series and i don't think her 'i'm hyper sexual and commanding' shtick work without the girls - Carrie (normal and neurotic), Miranda (smart and practical), and Charlotte (Conservative/Uptight and Sweet/Innocent) - to act as a foil to her.

Thank God this never happened. Kim Catrall is nuts and was never a team player. Samantha was to me always the worst character/actress. Her story is over. I'm actually annoyed she appeared on "And just like that" after saying she would NEVER guest star. What a hypocrite
