or Do you find them boring for the most part?

It's generally not a question of boring or not boring. I just compartmentalize music and TV/movie entertainment, and I rarely turn on the TV to watch music. I might get music from Youtube.
If I'm watching the show live, I'm likely too lazy to change the channel and it would be inefficient, so i'll sit through the musical segment and if I like it, that's nice, if not, I'll grin and bear it. Other sketch shows without musical acts I prefer. If it's on hulu where you can pick and choose what you want a la carte, the sketches aren't there anyway.

I do if it is someone I like, if it is someone I don't like (like an artist I already know) I flip the channel or go do something. If it is someone new that I have never heard before I give them a chance and take a listen.

I'm pretty much the same, but I usually don't continue watching one of those unknown artists very long unless I find something interesting with the music or performance pretty quickly. -

Using season 41 as an example every single musical guest was garbage except for Drake
You are not cool at all for thinking that, it's lame. In fact he is weak singer and performer. This season performed The Weeknd, Sia, Adele, Bruce Springsteen, Ariana Grande and Alicia Keys. Among others, I would stand those out. Also Disclosure brought out Sam Smith and Lorde.
Since you mentioned a rapper, Kanye West, Future and Chance The Rapper. I don't especially like them but maybe you appreciate some hip-hop.
