Which Becky do you prefer?

Lecy, hands down. I feel that Sarah was a terrible actress who never would have been able to carry some of the scenes Lecy did. I hated how she'd always yell a line or two and then storm out of a room. I feel the show probably gave her those types of lines because she couldn't act as well. I think the fact that people hated Lecy's Becky so much goes to show what a good actress Lecy was. She was a spoiled, entitled, annoying teenaged brat, you were't supposed to like her. You were supposed to want to smack her.

^^totally agree with you!! It seemed like all she did was yell or say something snotty and stomp out of the room. She had totally different scenes than Lecy, in my opinion. Lecy's Becky had a lot more dialogue. Sarah's Becky only seemed to yell/argue with Roseanne or Mark then storm off. I think you're right about Lecy being a better actress too and that's why people hated Becky so much.I think Lecy was 100% more tolerable.

Having seen Chalke on Scrubs and an arc of How I Met Your Mother, I think she's definitely a good comedic actress. But she seems better suited for single-camera than she ever did on the three-camera live audience setup on Roseanne.
Needless to say, Becky one is the only choice for me. -

Thank you!!!! Omg Sarah was such a bad actress! The episodes she's on are annoying to watch and often left me thinking "how great Lecy would nail that line" lol. I don't know what show other people were watching.

I liked Lecy's Becky better, because I think she portrayed her so brilliantly and realistically. In her ugly moments, she could really make the viewers hate her character.
Sarah's Becky was just kind of blah though I thought it was less because of her acting and more because of the bad writing. Her Becky was written as a whiny, immature airhead. There also wasn't as much chemistry between her and the other characters as there was with Lecy. -

Lecy's Becky. I like Sarah Chalke as an actress in other work that she has done but she couldn't really capture the character of Becky.
You really could feel the tension between Lecy's Becky and Dan and Roseanne when they fought.
Sarah's Becky would just get huffy and storm out of the room.
Kramer: he was very impressed with what I do.
Elaine: What you do? You don't do anything! -

They changed the character so much when Chalke started. I can't even imagine Lecy's "Becky" working at a Hooters type establishment. When Lecy returned for a few episodes in the later season, they wrote her like the original Becky wanting to go back to school, etc.
Personally I prefer Lecy. Even when she was a total brat in a few episodes in the second and third seasons, I still preferred her to Sarah.
It's interesting that the producers allowed Sarah to make Becky her own. She had none of the same characteristics as Lecy even going as far as calling Roseanne "Mom" instead of "Mother". -

For me it's not a cut-and-dried question. I prefer S1-S5 Lecy to Sarah, but I prefer Sarah to S8 Lecy.
Lecy was terrific in the role before leaving the series in 1992. Upon her return, she was terrible.
