All of the hostages survived. There was a rescue attempt but a sudden sandstorm disabled a couple of the helicopters and the mission had to be aborted. The hostages would likely have been returned earlier but Reagan's campaign was working with Iran to prevent it from happening so that Carter would look bad.

I wouldn't say that he was a great president.
I would say that he was a better Democrat than the democrats today.
Instead of crying and carrying on over losing. He left the White House with dignity and did what he could to make things better in this country.

Today, all you hear is blaming this one and that one for losing the election. There is so much division within that party.
What is being done to make our country a better place today? The Democrats really do not seem to care!
