The naming of the mouse i heard was intentionally a tip of the hat to the 1989 tom selleck prison flick "An Innocent Man" in which the main foe of sellecks character is a black thug called Jingles.

Hmm, interesting. I had not heard that bit of trivia yet. Thanks for sharing. I had been curious about the naming of the mouse in the film, since in the book they call him "Steamboat Willie" which is, of course, the very earliest representation of Mickey Mouse. I always presumed they had to change the name for the film due to copyright/trademark issues regarding Disney (since this is a WB film). But I didn't know where the film name actually came from.
