Who do you prefer, Grace (Kelly Hu) or Dana (Tammy Lauren - you know, the blonde in the first 5 episodes)?
Though Grace is a better fighter, I like Dana's personality best (hotheaded, impulsive, grouser She's the perfect Sammo's antithesis). Both are beautiful, though Grace is slightly sexier. As for the acting, I think Tammy Lauren is a better actress than Kelly Hu (who is not bad either); which is not surprising since she has a longer experience.
All in all, I prefer Dana. I was very disappointed when she was written off the show. -

Does anyone know actually why Tammy Lauren left the show?
I liked her character more for shallow reasons; she wore mini-skirts and tight fitting black leather knee high boots for goodness sake! As if a detective would wear such a get-up in their line of work.
You know, I reckon it was partly that outfit that might have made her leave
Those boots were sexy -

Tammy Lauren was dropped from the series early on after she failed to show up for work on a day that had a key scene in it that she was supposed to be in. She had gotten lost trying to find the filming location, and after a heated phone call to the production staff about how lousy the location map she had been given was, she apparently decided not to come in at all. This threw the already tight shooting schedule into chaos, and since that particular episode was just starting, the higher-ups apparently decided to write her out of that episode - and the show.
The only reference to her sudden disappearance from the show was a comment by one of the detectives about Dana (Tammy's character) having gone to work for a police department in another city. Poof - no more Dana. -

Interesting. And a pity. I wonder why I get the feeling she might have been difficult to work with on the show anyway? Perhaps she resented the fact she was expected to wear mini skirts and knee high leather boots. She should have enjoyed that outfit!

Kelly Hu, aka Grace Pei Pei Chen, of course! Besides, while Kelly has made it big on the big screen with such hits as X2: X-Men United & The Scorpion King, what else has Tammy Lauren done? No offense as Tammy was pretty good during her stint in Martial Law.

Yeah I remember this from back then. They should've kept her character
