    This makes no sense and they did not show how it happened.
    Count Dracula should be kept separate from bible stories.

      I think the rope snapping was either an accident that left him somewhere between life and death, or it was him rejecting his humanity to become the undead.
      I actually liked this element of the movie. It was creative and different. It gave us a vampire that had an even greater connection to Christianity and why so many Christian symbols affect him so much.
      So many stories, so little time.

          Yes, that was it. I thought it was an interesting twist that kind of made sense with the vampire mythos over the past century or so.
          So many stories, so little time.
