Before you watch the clip I must warn that it contains a small spoiler, but doesn't give any information about the plot.

This movie seems highly OVERRATED. It just seeks shock value and making your cringe. Why was she pulling out her teeth anyway? That isn't even a normal response someone would have if thy had that many loose teeth in their mouth.

To be honest, I agree with you. The main character's decisions ( ex.
not wanting to end it all
) made me so cringe. The ending was also kinda stretched unnecessarily.

Not having seen the film yet, I'm going to assume that this Substance, destroys it's hosts beauty and it compels the host to destroy their beauty themselves?
Am I on the right track?

I don't want to give any spoilers. But let's say something similar happens :).

Well I've already figured out the plot. Sounds unoriginal also. Doesn't sound very thoughtful either. It's typical at best.

To be fair, "The destruction of self" aside, there are some original ideas about living 2 different lives (young and old) and MAJOR SPOILER:
young eating the old's years like a parasite
. Other than these, if you like Gore Horror Scenes you might get some near the end -like the one on the video. If you're not interested in this kind of stuff, you can just skip this movie or watch a Recap video :).

I guess what I'm trying to say is that there are some posters on filmboards who've watched this film, says that it is an Oscar worthy psychological horror having many layers and is so thought provoking that it will linger in your psyche long after the movie ends.
                  Sounds like overhyped imo.

I saw it and also think it's overhyped big time. Why do people like it so much? Because others do? What is so good about it? What is the deeper meaning? It starts off amazing, my GF and I were too tired so decided to watch the rest later, so excited to see what happens then it was such a let down. It doesn't deserve the high score IMO, we went over it and over it thinking there was something more there & figured it was like being in an art gallery looking at a doughnut on a glass cabinet, saying it represents the sweet glazing on America that is destroying it, with a bite of if it dying, and tastes good but bad for you.. wow, what a powerful piece.. then realizing someone left it there on accident. I really don't get all the hype, still worth watching though but really good movies with that kind of hype you can watch over and over… I have no desire to watch this again. If you see it, and see some kind of deep meaning I missed I'd love to hear your thoughts.
