So he assaults Max at the party, then coerced the other 3 into participating in a murder and cover-up. Then assaults Max again thinking he wrote the first letter without even finding out if he did it or not. Then he assaults Ray accusing him of being the person behind the scares. THEN he pushes people over chasing the 'suspect' at the parade, and knocks over an innocent guy face first into the jetty.
Dunno about you guys, but I had zero sympathy for him. He was a bully and deserved everything he got and worse. I'd have cut his eyes out, cut his legs and arms off, cut his tongue out and force fed him thumb-tacks. Maybe cut his ears off, Reservoir Dog style, for good measure. -

He was a spoiled rich kid with an attitude, but he was very entertaining. I can't say he deserves what he got more than the others. He came up with the plan, but the others went along with it pretty easily. Julie could've gone to the police afterwards, so I really don't have more sympathy for her. Besides, Barry was clearly an alcoholic and showed a lot of care for Helen at the end, he's not completely evil.

Now you're just being silly. He got run over, his ex got attacked and another friend found a body in her trunk.

I'd forgotten how horrible Barry is in this. He gets so aggressive with Julie (not cool) and when Julie and Helen come to his house after a year he's still such a jerk. He's rude to both Ray and Max. Yeah, he still cared about Helen but yeeshI'm kind of glad he died. -

He didn't coerce anyone into a murder or a coverup. It was an accident. Ray, Julie and Helen could've gone to the police at anytime. Barry was just a spoiled prick, nothing more. He wasn't evil or anything though, he showed a lot of care towards Helen even after they hadn't spoken for a year.

He was the driving force behind them covering up the accident. And accident or not, leaving the scene and not getting help for the guy leaving him for dead in the process, is likely to get you a murder rap if the victim dies and you're car is linked to that accident. Therefore, yes, he coerced them, and it was a murder. It would have been an accident (under intoxication maybe) had they called an ambulance even if he was already dead. But that isn't what they did.

Barry reminds me too much of how my older brother was like when we were teenagers. He was loud, mean, and hostile all the time.
Yeah, Barry was a major beep head. He was loud, mean, cruel, threatening and hostile. He was just abusive towards everyone. -
