One time years ago, an old coworker and I made plans to go to a Blink 182 concert. We had made plans several months ahead of time, bought tickets, and talked about it nearly every day. Then 3 days before the concert she stopped replying to my texts. The next day I'm like "ummm…hello?" But nothing. I was so pissed. I had to go to the concert alone as it was too short of notice, and she had the other ticket!
Another time a friend and I planned to meet in Texas to go to the beach and Six Flags there for a day in the summer. We made these plans in Winter. Then as we get closer and closer to the actual date, she becomes more distant. The night before I text, "Ok I guess it's not happening."
Now it's a different story if you ask someone if they want to see a movie the next day, and it doesn't follow through. No big deal. But for serious events that are preplanned months ahead of time, that may require tickets being purchased, reservations made, time off work, then it's extremely inconsiderate to break those plans as it gets close, and even more inconsiderate to not reply to texts as the date gets closer.
What I have learned is, if you make plans with someone about several months ahead of time for a certain event, make sure to talk to them every day. I've made plans with people 5 months ahead of time for things, and the first month it's all we can talk about, but then if you stop talking to them for a couple months, and then start talking to them again a couple weeks before the event, then it becomes awkward. They think the plans are null and void because you stopped communicating for a long period of time in between making the plan and the event. -

That’s one of my biggest pet peeves. It’ hasn’t happened too many times for dates but with friends, yes. It’s certainly happened more times than I would like.
