The victims are either dead or got injured. How do you know what justice they would want and whose justice is it really, humankinds?
Humankind can never be attributed with justice or reason.
For the family and friends, one can't speak for them either. He needs to live out his life confined and loss of freedom to give him time to think about what he has done and was it worth it?

Plus it costs the taxpayers more putting him to death than to keep him in for a long time.

Yeah, it's not like there are bombs going off or terrorism in Switzerland or Lichtenstein, that I am aware of.
