These Floats by Jacques Tilly infuriate Putin
Every year, float builder Jacques Tilly presents his satirical barbs against German and international politicians at the Düsseldorf Carnival. Kremlin despot Putin regularly gets his share of criticism. He doesn't like it at all. Currently the Rhinelander Tilly is put on trial in Moscow.

Moscow sentences Düsseldorf Carnival Performer Jacques Tilly to more than 8 Years in Prison
Russian authorities tried Düsseldorf carnival performer Jacques Tilly in absentia.
The judge now handed down a harsh sentence: 8 years and 6 months in prison.
Tilly doesn't have to fear extradition from Germany to Russia.
Judge Konstantin Ochirov ruled in the controversial trial that Tilly was guilty of offending religious sensibilities and spreading false information about the Russian armed forces. Tilly was also ordered to pay a fine of around EUR 2,000 and received a 4-year ban from working in the carnival scene.
Tilly built the carnival floats, which criticize Kremlin leader Putin and the war he ordered in Ukraine. During the trial, his 2024 carnival float, featuring figures of Putin in uniform and Patriarch Kirill engaged in homosexual oral sex, was described in great detail several times.

Tilly should've known that Russia's invasion of the Ukraine isn't a war,
but a Russian
'special operation'
that simply takes a little longer.
