Throughout his journey as the Joker, Hamill has had one constant partner in Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy. Sadly Conroy passed away in 2022. Speaking with Empire Magazine, Hamill reveals that he does not believe he will return as the Joker following the death of his longtime friend and collaborator.
Hamill doubts whether he'll ever take up the Joker mantle again without Conroy there to trade lines with - it was heading that way anyway, he says. "They would call and say, 'They want you to do the Joker,' and my only question was, 'Is Kevin Batman?' If they said yes, I would say, 'I'm in.' We were like partners. We were like Laurel and Hardy. Without Kevin there, there doesn't seem to be a Batman for me."

It's a shame, but there are others who sound similar to Conroy and Hamill.

It was a very understandable decision. The two were greatly joined together and were the voices of a generation, heck several generations.
I'll always have my dvds of Hamill's incredible, character-defining performance of the Joker. From Christmas with the Joker through Return of the Joker and even the Arkham games, Mark Hamill is synonymous with Joker.

He's Luke Skywalker not the joker. He can't hide that in his voice and it's distracting.
Ceaser Romero and Jack Nicholson are the joker.
Also cartoons are for 5 year Olds.

I disagree. His Joker voice is very distinct from his Luke voice. I don't find it distracting at all.
Ceaser and Jack were great Jokers. As was Mark. He even held that role longer than any other performer.
The man defined the role. An incredible legacy to be sure.
