The dialogue sounds like it was written by a twelve year old boy who has autism spectrum disorder.
The storyline is simplistic and occasionally meandering.
It’s saving grace really is Jason Momoa. I hope they cast more people who are reflective of the diversity of the moviegoing audience rather than the cliche choices we would expect. The guy has charisma for days.

He's attractive looks-wise, but he looks like he doesn't shower.

He was hot in Baywatch Nights, but he aged in a weird way. Not bad, just weird. He doesn't necessarily look old, but he doesn't look like he did when he was younger, either. So he's aged a lot, without looking old. It's weird. -

Just got back from watching it. Parts were pretty boring, dialogue was pretty ****, some of the acting was bad, but Mamoa was really good, and some of the action scenes were great. I had a good time for the most part.
Solid 7/10 for me.

How about they cast the best person for the role? And how about they apply some kind of internal movie logic?
If Momoa was the best person to play Aquaman, why make the character's mother (and various other family and "his" people) pasty white? It makes it very difficult to suspend disbelief when studios appear to be recreating that infamous Benetton photo rather than trying to make immersive art.
I notice with Avatar nobody thinks it's weird that all the Na'vi are the sane ethnicity. Nobody thinks they're racist because they are a homogenous culture.
