In the opening shot of the trailer, Joker is aboard a train that passes through Gotham City.
In Batman Begins, Bruce's dad Thomas told young Bruce about the new monorail system that his company funded.
The monorail train looks like an upgraded version of the train Phoenix is riding, as if that was replaced.
Both Gotham Cities look the same, having a Chicago-based look rather than Burton's art deco style. Why would Phillips model his Gotham the same as Nolan? Why do Ledger and Phoenix both look similar with the same hairstyle, when there're many incarnations of Joker?
Joker runs the hospital hall, similar to the hospital hall Ledger's Joker runs down before he blows it up.
Ledger's Joker states, "my daddy was a drinker. Do you want to know how I got these scars? My father was a drinker, and a fiend. And one night he goes off crazier than usual. Mommy gets the kitchen knife to defend herself. He doesn't like that. Not. One. Bit. So, me watching, he takes the knife to her, laughing while he does it." Could Phoenix's Joker have killed Zazi later on and then scarred Joker?
At the end of the movie Joker and Zazi Beets character have a baby, which they won't name, and will grow up to be Heath Ledger's Joker.

It could explain why this Joker has such a generic clown look. It is the first iteration, so less stylized. Kind of like how old Disney cartoon characters looked different and more primitave than the eventual final designs.
