Oh yeah I'm sure they're really high fiving each other after coming up half a billion short.
Yeah let's just accept "good with the bad" as an acceptable level of quality.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

      • Production Budget: $250,000,000
      • Worldwide Gross: $873,260,194 (Domestic: $330,360,194; Foreign: $542,900,000)
        Suicide Squad
      • Production Budget: $175,000,000
      • Worldwide Gross: $745,600,054 (Domestic: $325,100,054; Foreign: $420,500,000)
Even adding in the advertising budgets, where do you get a half-billion shortfall?

They're all smiling. They're pulling in big numbers at the start of their "cinematic universe" regardless of horrible reviews. Sure, a Batman+Superman movie should've passed a billion, easy. But considering they made about the darkest, weirdest, most convoluted, overlong and non-crowdpleasing Batman+Superman movie possible, it's box-office was impressive as hell. Believe me, everythings sunny in their offices. The only huge conflict over these films is in message boards like this lol.

              Yes, but
              SS
also didn't cost as much and had a better profit margin.

How could you be proud of that garbage?
                It's clearly sub par.

                    Critically? No
                    Financially? Ehh.
MoS, BvS and SS all underperformed, and from what I've read, they spent way too much on their budget for BvS (outside of production budget, I'm talking advertising, distribution etc.). But even though they didn't make as much money as they could have and should have, they weren't box office flops. Sure they could have done better, but it still wasn't a bad day at the office for WB/DC. And I honestly don't get the impression the WB execs are too concerned with how their movies are received critically or if they're divisive, as long as they're making money, which is their main objective.

I don't think they care. If they did, Geoff Johns or someone like him would have been involved from the beginning.
