I like the reboot of the Black Canary

When the news came out that they were adding yet another Canary to the show I wasn't interested at all and I wasn't looking forward to anything about the story.
I was so wrong, I absolutely LOVED her introduction and really liked her character and hope that we get to see a lot more of her. Honestly, I was far more interested in her this episode than I was in Diggle. I loved her fighting skills, her backstory, her canary cry, everything about her was convincing to me. I also saw loads of chemistry between the actress and SA.
Pretty much where I stand. She may be the reason I don't quit the show just yet.
You're suffering from delusions of adequacy.

I to rolled my eyes at yet another canary. I was thinking just let it go already. I didn't really have any desire to see this played. The. I was pleasantly surprised and very much enjoyed the character and the episode for a variety of reasons.

Haven't seen the episode, but I've read a lot about it. And I have to say I am torn in two over this.
I am a huge Laurel fan, and it never set right with me how she was treated. When I first heard of a new Black Canary it felt like another insult to her memory.
But then I hear her name is Dinah Drake, and she has cop training, and is a meta human with a Canary Cry, and has chemistry with Oliver. I softened towards her because it sounds like this show has finally done Black Canary right.
She doesn't need to be romantically involved with Oliver. I'd be lying if I said it wouldn't be nice but it's not necessary. BC is so much than Green Arrow's love interest.
I just hope that with as many characters as we have that she doesn't quickly disappear.
May the Force be with you. -

I think my acceptance of her was partially due to accepting that the story of Laurel Lance, as we knew her in the show, is truly over. some on-the-nose factors of this:
- Well, she dies, of course, and we are explicitly told she won't come back
- The Laurel Black Canary statue is destroyed
- Felicity literally punches out Black Siren (possibly a dig at the Laurel fans?)
That, and my focus on the election and current political arena has mellowed me out a little regarding Arrow, combined with the fact that otherwise, I am truly enjoying Season 5 (goes back to S1-2 roots).

Initially I thought this Black Canary would be shoe-horned into the plot awkwardly, but I was pleasantly surprised by both the character and actress. She has great chemistry with Stephen Amell already. Plus her personality and style seems way closer to the comics BC than Laurel or Sara (aside from her not being blonde).
I am not a Laurel hater by any means, in fact I always appreciated her skills as an attorney and her story arc dealing with alcoholism. However, it is refreshing to have a new Black Canary that doesn't fret over Oliver while trying to save the city. -

I agree. I watched the latest episode in full and it is a huge improvement over what they did with the Black Canary before and I am not going to keep my hopes up 'cause of the track record with this show and female characters but I am hoping we get to see a lot more of her and they make her Oliver's partner instead of just another sidekick 'cause she is far more experienced than anybody else on his team. I feel sorry for Katie Cassidy 'cause this is exactly what they should have done with her from the start. She is far more aggressive and a better fighter and she has no previous connections to Oliver, no cheating sister and no or job as a lawyer.
My only question is if this version of Dinah can sing and we are going to get the Black Canary band in the future episodes. I would love to see that!!
Make Same Sex Marriages Legal In Australia 'cause we deserve to have the same rights as everybody else and shouldn't be controlled by backwards people with outdated views.

Why couldnt (Green) Arrow have served up tough cop Black Canary from episode one instead of subjecting us to four seasons of Laurel? Fifth times (if you include Alex Kingston) the charm! Was Sean Sonos supposed to be the fourth Count Vertigo (The Top is the best) or Sonar? Now I recall Central City has two Linda Parks that are journalists in separate media too.
