I didn't answer this?
Henry is better in looks physique and personality. People may say he's mopey but he isn't wooden like Brandon. Sorry to say but Routh was just doing a bad Reeves impersonation.- BVS 2. TWS 3. Avenger

I believe that the main difference has a lot to do with not only how old you are, but the kind of action films you like.
I am no spring chicken, but I am not that old either. I can appreciate violence and darkness in a character, but I think trying to do an "update" on a classic character changes the whole thing.
To me, the first time I saw Superman on a screen, was in re-runs of the 1950's black and white series, and on cinema, was with Christopher Reeve as Superman. His performance was to me, the best I have seen, and to me, that is the Superman image I will keep in my heart until I die. His awkward and naive moments as Clark made him endearing and the perfect disguise from his Superman alter-ego.
So when SR came out, I was elated! Not only for the resemblance to my favorite Superman (Chris R), but also because the character remained true to some of the things that made Superman a beloved hero. That same look of "what?, what did I miss?" or the "Huh?" moments, made me love SR in a way that I have not experienced since the first time I saw Superman I.
Fast forward almost 50 years since the original, and the comics have changed, have become darker, and I have lost some of the old amazement they used to hold on me.
I am a firm believer of "If it isn't broken, why fix it?"
Now, the new Superman (darker one), is geared towards people who is ok with tweaking things around and revamping the character to make things more interesting, and that's ok. There are many out there who love it in a way they could never love the old one, which they probably consider too "Vanilla".
And those are the fans that appreciate Henry Cavil as the best performer. However to me, I can indulge darkness in a character that has always have some darkness as part of the original persona (ie: Batman), and if it gets darker, I pretty much won't complain; but when you change a character trait and introduce something that was not there from the beginning, it is no longer the original character. In my opinion, it becomes a new character with a semblance of the original.
For me, Superman is and always will be light, a character that always lives in the light, something that I love to see little kids imitate and let them feel like the good guy super hero. However, I am not so sure if I would like a 6 year old emulate the current comic books Superman, and the Superman that Henry C portrays. (Too dark, too violent for someone so young)
For a more mature audience the new Superman doesn't seem like a bad deal, and that's ok. (To each their own)
However, I will always keep to the more lighter closer to the original, and to me that's Brandon. He, and the entire SR movie are the embodiment of the original character, the way it was written originally, by the original creators, in a time when things were simpler, when everyday hate, violence, and death, were not something everyone was not surprised to see all the time, eventually becoming second nature.
Give me an escape from the things that every day remind me that my world is not filled with things I wish my children will never experience, where my super heroes are the complete opposite to that which I seek to escape from, and allow me, if even for 154 minutes to feel a bit lighter.
So for me, Brandon and SR are the embodiment of everything I love.
Well done SR, Well done Brandon.
