Some very interesting discussion on the show last episode.
For those who do not believe in souls, at the end of the day, isn't every human simply a robot whose choices are decided by programming? There is no real "you," there's just an entity representing a blend of different experiences, most vastly outside one's control. "Choice" becomes greatly diminished, and is more a matter of which life experiences are strong enough to win out over others to influence (program) your particular decision on any given mater. You overcame an abusive background to make good moral choices in life, while your friend didn't? Well, you must have had some kind of extra inspiration that set you on the right path that your friend didn't.
Without a soul, all that humans are essentially is robots that function based on whatever programing overrides the others.
Arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhBWDzkqEPY
