Why give my money and time to someone who hates people that feel differently than they do?
Sorry, but isn't that exactly what
you're
doing ? Hating people that feel differently than you, I mean.

But why?
Sure, AoU was not exactly a great movie, but the guy still gave the world Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Sollhouse, Dr. Horrible, The Avengers, The Cabin in the Woods, etc. Plus, he helped create AoS. So what did he do to piss you off that much?

The dividing line is what he does with his shows. If he uses them to constantly promote his personal agenda then I would say, sure, drop him. But his personal views are his and I really don't give a rats ass about them.
Also keep in mind this isn't simple manufacturing. It's art. Its not always easy or even possible to find a good substitute. -

I have no idea what that's supposed to mean in this context. Does he have political views you don't agree with? Personally, I don't care about that stuff at all. As long as a artist isn't going around killing babies (hyperbolically speaking), I really couldn't care less about what they're doing in their free time.
Sure, I might not like them as a person (whatever that means in regard to someone I don't actually know), but I can still enjoy their work. For example, I'm pretty sure Tom Cruise is a lunatic, but I still love many of his movies.
So, again, what did Joss Whedon do to piss you off enough to turn your back on many of the greatest shows and movie pop culture has to offer?

If someone where selling me, I dunno, let's say deli meats, who is outspoken in their hatred of cured and preserved meats, I would find someone else to buy my pastrami from. If they're selling deli meat and the love deli meat but have a thing about some other thing unrelated to deli meats, I'd still buy my deli meat there if it were good deli meat.
The fact is that the stank of leftist pretension doesn't pollute Hollywood's product as often as it seems to around award season. -

Would you patronize a business that hates things you believe in
Awww.
Poor baby.
John Lennon wrote a lot of great songs even if he was an ass at times.
Made jokes about the disabled. Had a vicious streak.

So what did he do to piss you off that much?
Well, let's see. Fairly recently, he has said it would be funny if a rhino fked a politician he doesn't agree with to death, he mocked Nicole Kidman's looks simple because she didn't condemn Trump before he had a chance to do anything, and he called Ivanka Trump a dog. The guy's pretty much gone off his rocker lately. -

Okay, that sounds really bad. Still, I love most of the work Whedon has delivered over the years and his personal opinions won't change my mind about that.

Well, let's see. Fairly recently, he has said it would be funny if a rhino fked a politician he doesn't agree with to death,
He quit twitter once.
Maybe he needs to stay off.
That said, the younger generation is sofrustratingly thin skinned.
Really poor babies?
IT IS A JOKE.
A RINO beep ed to death by a rhino.
You don't see the morbid humor to it?
This was so great.
And the right hasn't made just as vicious jokes about Hillary?
I saw the posters people made of Obama.
I am sick to death of the gorilla comparisons idiots on the right have made about the Obamas.
he mocked Nicole Kidman's looks simple because she didn't condemn Trump before he had a chance to do anything,
Wasn't that a ref to her being a PUPPET?
Specifically a marionette?
There are no strings on me, remember?
Some of us actually watched that show back in the 60s.

and he called Ivanka Trump a dog.
Joss Whedon @joss
Hey, keep your eyes on this beep prize too. He's a Voldemort in training, & unlike the Pekingese he married under, can play the long game
Joss Whedon @joss
.@HuffingtonPost "the Pekingese he married under" refers to his ugly yappy father-in-law, not Ivanka. Can't believe I have to explain that
Why would he suggest Ivanka can't play the long game?
The guy's pretty much gone off his rocker lately
His twitter is pretty much all people against Trump.
Cher. Obama people.
And this didn't exist on the right about Obama?
I don't get all of Monty Python humor (the explosions?) I put it down to British humor. If you don't get Whedon's humor, by all means don't watch it.
But whining about it?
I used to watch Tim Allen back in the 90s. Never bothered with Last Man Standing. Actually because I was too busy to bother & it's not something I go out of my way to watch. I consider my slate pretty full with The Librarians, Once Upon a Time, Gotham, Supergirl, Lucifer, Timeless, Scorpion, The Daily Show, @midnight, Colbert/The Late Show, Drunk History, Flash, Full Frontal, Legends of Tomorrow, AoS, Vikings, Magicians, blackish, Supernatural, Blacklist, Real Time, Grimm, Sleepy Hollow, & Emerald City. I know it's been on awhile, but I'm sure there were shows like Dracula or Constantine on my slate.
Do I give a rat's rear Vincent Vaughan is conservative? Jon Voight? I watch Ray Donovan because of Liev Schreiber. Never paid attention to Voight in years past. Anaconda-which was horrible-is the only thing I remember ever seeing him in prior.
Why does it matter so much to conservatives?

Never mattered much to me. I'm a fan of many 'liberal' actors, because I enjoy their work and talent. Their political views have no sway on my opinions of their acting ability. I'm friends with many left leaning people, even though I definitely lean more to the right. We simply don't talk politics and accept that our views are different. I'm a Christian, but have many friends of other religions or that are outright Atheists. Again, we don't talk about it and don't let it influence our friendship, but simply accept our difference of opinion on the matter and carry on.
Why? Because, as people, I like them. They're good, decent people. Good company, fun to hang out with, and we do share a lot of common interests that have nothing to do with politics or religion, and have formed strong bonds over them. So, why would we let something as ridiculous as a difference in opinion over our political/religious views ruin a good thing? It's just silly. Too many people let these things have far too much influence on their lives, rather than just living and enjoying people for who they are.
It's the same with actors. If an actor excels at his/her craft, then why would I not watch their movies/shows simply because of their political views? I watch to be entertained, not worry about their politics. It's just sad that so many people think otherwise. I'm glad you seem to be above such pettiness as well. Your commentary was very refreshing.

a lot longer
You mean having one more season?
As for "great". No one agrees outside of Whedon fans. Metacritic, IMDdb, Rotten Tomatoes, say differently.
It sucked. It never had the cult following or a movie wrap-up. -
Socialman — 9 years ago(February 01, 2017 12:20 PM)
Firefly didn't even get
half
a season, Dollhouse
completed
two full seasons. Meaning where people were jumping onto the Firefly cult bandwagon after someone found the DVD set in some discount bin, people were actually
watching
Dollhouse when it was on.
As for "great". No one agrees outside of Whedon fans. Metacritic, IMDdb, Rotten Tomatoes, say differently.
You mean those 'fans' that
weren't
watching Firefly ?
It sucked. It never had the cult following or a movie wrap-up.
You'd be surprised how many shows don't get one of those. I think it's pretty much none of them, so it's hardly a gold standard to judge a show by.

Joss Whedon's TV shows, (and his movies have been great) have been an incredible inspiration in my life, helped me out through the darkest of times. My love for them and his work will never fade.
However.yeah. Whatever the guy is doing right now with his life is beyond sad, beyond idiotic and pathetic. I usually don't let such things bother me when it comes to art - most of hollywood like this in one way or another - but he really is going hard for the title of most obnoxious, out of touch celebrity moron.

I bailed on the show well over a year ago due to the political stink bombs it kept lobbing. And Whedon's repulsive remarks validated my departure.
My people skills are fine. It's my tolerance of morons that needs work.
