I still feel the disgust leaving the theatre…

Yeah, seems that Erik cannot decide if he wants to be a good guy or a bad guy but we DO know that he wants to lead. And that he has a most decidedly distrust for humanity - not inexplicable given his origins in a Nazi controlled Germany and his own losses growing up in a concentration camp.
We did see their antagonistic relationship slowly reverse in the first two original movies only to see them split in the third; where Erik fought the concept of a cure - sort of similar plot for this movie: protecting the X gene mutations. Again referencing his upbringing at the hands of the Nazis.
Yet, as we are introduced to their realigning at the first of this movie, joining forces so to speak, to fight collaborately to take out the Sentinel wars.
This is a crucial buildup for the events in Apocalypse. Watch that movie and I think you will feel a little differently
about his potential to evolve and fighting to protect humanity
I still see no reason for him to wear a cape (uniform) when he's acting out his Magneto personality since he dresses for the street when he's acting out as Erik.
Also, why would a guy who could control metal be wearing plastic armor? Not even Kevlar!
And he gets taken out by a plastic fragment of shrapnel which pierces his plastic armor near the end of this movie

This is a comic book movie. You know that right?? The Avengers would never be remotely watchable if I nitpicked everything like you people nitpick these X-Men films.

Still trying to und4erstand parsing of movies when a lot goes into producing it? Past movies with awful graphics fair better giving them a break in some way! We're vultures pecking at the
liver of Prometheus
these days for some reason and give little credit for genius production values! ;-/http://scifiblogs3.blogspot.com/

Prometheus did have incredible production values and Michael Fassbender was awesome AGAIN as the 3rd best android I've ever seen on a screen. Bishop and Data being ahead of him.

Don't think good/bad is a concern of Magneto.
He has a goal, that is to ensure the future of "his kind" (the mutants) and to reach that goal he turns against non-mutants as well as against other mutants that are in his way.
I'm sure in this view his actions are necessary and justified. No bad or good guy problem.
Also he's by far not so cruel as others - he got to know - who follow their own agenda. His personality was born from cruelty.
However it seems with age he sees the advantages of Xavier's viewpoint of a more passive and peaceful way with each other.
P.S.: He got shot by Mystique in his neck, there was no armor.

Still, it's funny. He's all asking the President and his staff why they made the Sentinels to destroy mutants and he's standing there, after having isolated and cornered these incredibly powerful men and he's ready to execute them on TV. Jesus Christ, Erik. You really wonder why humans don't like you??

Really?
The Sentinels get through anything anyway.
Why bother mention an armor there? Esp. since it's not known (at least not from the movies) what attributes those polymer have/give.

Um, that shrapnel was shot into Magneto far faster than a bullet. It would've penetrated most armor with the exception of adamantium of course.

I JUST re-watched this and, unless I missed something, during the Sentinel attack NOBODY died (or possibly was even hit by a bullet.) @ least with this viewing (& I've watched this dozens of times, LOVE IT!) it would seem that neither Mystique nor Magneto were actually 'out for blood,' they had simply seen & heard what Trask had planned (& accomplishes, in the future) & set out to discredit him. Magneto might not have even wanted more than a 'soapbox' on television on which to air his viewpoint after all he didn't press-on w/ his attack, right? MAJOR flaws were exposed within the sentinels in that they could be corrupted or over-ridden AND Trask was dealing 'under the table' w/ other countries illegally.
I fell asleep during INCEPTION BUT I FEEL like I still saw it! -

Rogue was cut out
Watch the Rogue Cut then. Liked that one much better. Forget the theatrical release.
And at the end, everything is reset and we have to feel good about that? Am I alone in this?
I laughed bitterly because now they created the possibilities for new character fk ups. Which they certainly will do. New story, same sh*t at the end.
Was so uncool to "revive" them all.

no. it's one of the worst comic book movies i've seen. i tried a lot to understand how people like the movie so much, but apparently, i don't get it. people complain so much about batman vs superman being lame when it should have been cool and ruining scenes from the dark knight returns and that's how i feel about this movie and respective comic.

You like all the ignorant critics are clearly a shallow idiot. This movie has more visual depth in every shot than the entirety of Captain America: Civil War
