I just noticed at the end of "Falling" when Supergirl is talking to Cat on the balcony, that Supergirl has an earring. It's the first time I've noticed it but maybe she had it in earlier episodes - but anyway, if she's impervious to bullets and she is invulnerable overall, how could her ear get pierced to put an earring in?

Thanks for the reply. I thought of that possibility too, but I don't think she had an earring in the early episodes. Maybe I just didn't see it. I'll have to watch that pilot episode again. Woo Hoo - I love it!

Adult Kara has earrings in every episode, even if they aren't always noticeable. Young Kara doesn't appear to have earrings, although having her ears pierced on Krypton is the answer that the show's executive producers have given when asked this question.

Yep, they're not noticeable in early episodes - I'm watching the entire series again and haven't seen them so far on adult Kara. As for the producers saying she got them pierced on Krypton - I would say to them - well, riddle me this - her parents put her in the pod when she's a little girl and she doesn't have pierced ears at that time, and then off she goes into the Phantom Zone for 12 years before crash-landing on Earth. So, when did she get her ears pierced on Krypton? I'd love to see them explain that one. All in good fun of course. I love the show. I love Melissa as Supergirl/Kara - actually, watching the show again makes me realize how much it feels like watching the comic books come to life. And anyway, I forgive the producers for the pierced ear gaff simply because they had the class to cast Helen Slater as Kara's adoptive mom.
