It certainly was at a time, but you're lying when you say it didn't evolve and was used as a symbol for southern pride. Again, this wasn't an issue until that one dude who shot up that church and had a Rebel flag in his garage. That's when white liberals decided it was a symbol of racism.
And I like how you guys get to choose when to ignore things that had a long history of racism but are acceptable today yet you arbitrarily think you can decide something now is a problem simply because you don't like it. The DNC and Planned Parenthood were founded on wildly racist views, but you guys don't want to abolish those.
Why weren't there issues with these? Because it wasn't racism, it was southern pride.

Two pics of black rap artists looking to be provocative (one of which shows the southern racist pride flag being burned) doesn't change anything. The black community as a whole condemns that racist southern pride flag. Republicans do not. They, like yourself, defend the flag of the confederacy. You ever see The Dukes of Hazzard? That was pretty mainstream in the 70s and 80s. It was flying at Nascar races and at government buildings throughout Southern states until 2020.
