I didn't think it was hilarious, I thought it was effing awesome and one of the most emotionally intense action scenes I've seen in a long time. Good work by the director, editor, Cage, the music guy, everybody.

Upon a re-watch his voice doesn't sound different when he says take cover child, he's just screaming with the big daddy voice.
When his voice changes is after he has been on fire for a while, and after Mindy put it out and he says his final words.
I thought the first time, and still maintain, that Cage was talking like that to simulate having burnt his lungs/throat by inhaling super heated air.
You're a troll. -

I was recently released from the Torrance Memorial Burn Center where I was treated for 2nd and 3rd Degree burns over 72% of my body.
I can confirm that your voice does indeed take on an exceptionally distorted and horrific tone when you are being burned alive. -

It was funny and sad at the same time.
One of the best parts of this film..and one of Cage's top performances, ever. I really liked him in this film.
Um, the name was Abby. Abby something-or other-Normal. -

It was not funny at all. It was meant to be dramatic as he was screaming in agony and pain but still kept a clear mind to protect his child and give the right instructions so Hit Girl can survive. The scene is one of the most tense and emotionally engaging I have experienced on screen.
I am rather baffled that some think it was funny and completely discredit this awesome scene but to each their own. -

I try to find the humor in it but I just thought that was soo sad.I mean I cant get passed the fact he is burning alive and all he cares about is making sure his kid survives.

Exactly, there is no humor in that particular scene.
I really very much doubt that people who consider that as funny really got the bitter, satirical part of the movie. Kick-Ass is not supposed to be just a funny action spectacle with some teen angst moments but its a clever, original superhero satire exposing the absurdity of being a vigilante in real life with that scene being the dramatic climax.
But the movie is anyway underrated for a comic adaptation in my view, next to great adaptations like Sin city or The dark knight its one of the best.
