Easy way to defeat Vandal Savage

I'm halfway through season 1 and it occurred to me that there is a ridiculously easy way to defeat Vandal Savage: Capture him and take him to the future. Faaaaarr into the future. Like 1 million years and drop him into deep space. There, he's erased from the timeline.
"But Vandal Savage cannot be killed," you would say. Well before half the first season is over he's already been beaten twice, once in 1975 and once in 1986. Both times he got mortally wounded. You're telling me they can't just drag him back to the ship in chains and the rest is, as they say, history? -

I think there were a lot of easy ways they could have defeated Vandal Savage without wasting an entire season on him and while he might not have been able to be killed there was nothing that said he couldn't have been frozen or blown up into little pieces that they could have scattered around the galaxy so he couldn't be put back together and the team taking so long to defeat him just made the characters look weak.
