I dont know anything about the character of Power Girl.
I do know though that the writers needs to get serious about the character of Kara/Supergirl cause she is at the moment the most annoying and bad written character of the show.

Kara will never become Power Girl in this show. Kara Zor-El/Supergirl and Karen Starr/Power Girl are two entirely different characters who aren't even separate earth versions of each other but were mistaken to be 'cause of how similar their powers were. Power Girl will most likely appear on Supergirl at some point 'cause the show runners have said they have plans to use her.

          The catacombs
And revolving doors inside of my brain
          Preachers and whores
And the neon pulpits burst into flames
          I come from both
Sides of me and either side of their tracks
          Humbling my ghosts
Letting life that floods my veins bring me back
The unshackling of the chains on my wrists
And the loyalty to pain that resists
And the greatest books are talking about this
Why must everybody die to exist?

Oh yeah, I heard news about Power Girl appearing on Supergirl or Flash earlier last year.

Prior to Flashpoint (idk about New 52,) Supergirl and Power Girl ARE alternate universe versions of one another. Power Girl's birth name is Kara Zor-L, the Earth-Two version of Kara Zor-El in that she is the cousin of Kal-L, the Earth-Two Superman. Karen Starr is just her assumed name, much like the show's version of Supergirl goes by Kara Danvers.
All that being said, I doubt they'd ever try to make her into Power Girl on this show. There's no reason to since this version of Supergirl, by virtue of being the protagonist of the show, doesn't live in Superman's shadow, so there's no reason for her to ever want to break out. (Also, if you think fanboys bitch now, wait until you make a version of Power Girl that doesn't have gigantic, porn star boobs and see how that turns out.)

I disagree with one of your statements.
You say that this version of Supergirl doesnt live in Supermans shadow. I disagree. I have seen Superman only in cartoons. I have never read any comics. But from that and from what i have heard about his character i would say that the shows version of Supergirl is in fact under his shadow.
A)She is arrogant and sees only pure good or pure evil [not open to grey unless it suits her personal moral compass].
B)Doesnt know how to fight and relies too much on her powers.
C)She acted very silly when Superman was around.
So i dont see her away from Supermans shadow. In fact i would say that the writers have and still continue to put much effort into making her a female Superman.

The fact the writers made this into a female Superman TV show instead of a Supergirl TV show was one of the biggest problems from day one and is the exact same mistake the creators of the failed Birds of Prey TV show did when they made it into a Batman show with the Huntress playing the role of Batman instead of a show about a team. There is nothing remotely similar between this show and the majority of the Supergirl comic books of the past 21 years and they took away all the elements that made Supergirl different and made her like Superman like Supergirl being more aggressive and edgy, Supergirl being less trusting of humans than Superman and being seen by people as an alien and a possible threat 'cause she didn't grow up on earth, Supergirl wearing glasses instead of the wig and Supergirl's confrontation with Maxwell Lord in the first episode which was almost a word by word rip off of Superman's confrontation with Lex Luthor in Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. There are no Supergirl characters, Supergirl villains or Supergirl storylines in this and I would say the writers only chose to make a Supergirl TV show 'cause they couldn't get the rights to make a Superman TV show.

Power Girl really is not Supergirl.
